The Olympic Council of Asia approved the participation of up to 500 russian and Belarusian athletes at this year’s Asian Games in Hangzhou to help them qualify for next year’s Olympics in Paris, insidethegames.biz reported.

Whether athletes from russia and Belarus will take part in Olympics in Paris will be up to the governing bodies of each of the 31 sports on the program.

Athletes from russia and Belarus had been banned from international competition following moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
