During the full-scale war, the russian troops destroyed or damaged 1.5 thousand objects of cultural infrastructure and 600 monuments of culture and history, Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Oleksandr Tkachenko, was cited as saying by ukrinform.net.

The minister emphasized that this war is also being waged for Ukrainian identity, culture, language, and history. Tkachenko also noted that during these 500 days, Ukrainian theaters staged dozens of premieres, the historic center of Odesa was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and it was possible to evacuate hundreds of thousands of exhibits from dangerous zones.

At the same time, he emphasized that international organizations can and should do more to protect Ukrainian cultural objects and condemn the actions of the russians, noting that, for example, people from russia continue to work in the executive bodies of the UN cultural agency UNESCO.
