Several international units have been created in Ukraine for foreign fighters. Volunteers from the US, Poland, Sweden, Belarus and other countries serve there. Most of them have previous combat experience in Iraq or Afghanistan, censor.net reported.
“I thought, who am I to stay at home when Ukraine is defending all of Europe? I would rather fight here, now, than later on at home. That’s what took me here,” said the Foreign Legion fighter.
“Last year it felt like we were the Taliban here, because the enemy has everything, and we had very little. Now it’s more even, but I can’t compare it. The enemy has so much more resources,” said a military officer in an interview.
