A platform meeting was held in Ankara with the participation of 43 Crimean Tatar associations and three foundations. The meeting resulted in a resolution calling on the international community to end russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea and protect the Crimean Tatar people from the persecution of occupiers, writes QHA media.

According to the Turkish QHA media service, the meeting was opened by the Head of the platform of Crimean Tatar organizations and the Head of the Crimea Development Fund Umit Silit. The representative of Turkey in the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Head of the Emel Foundation, producer and director Zafer Karatay raised the issue of supporting the Crimean issue in the information space of Turkey and the international community. Ways to counteract the spread of russian propaganda in Turkey have also become one of the most important issues on the agenda.

Following the platform meeting, its participants signed a resolution in which they turned to the world community as descendants of the Crimean Tatar people expelled from their native land.

We, the grandchildren of the Crimean Tatars, who were forced to emigrate from Crimea, for many centuries continue to work in 43 organizations and 3 foundations in Turkey – the country that gave us the warmth of the fatherland.

The resolution states that representatives of associations and foundations recognize only the democratic path of development.

We accept the Kurultay and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people elected in Crimea by the people, according to democratic principles, as the highest representative body. We depend on those decisions that have also been adopted in accordance with the democratic principles of these national institutions, and will continue to work in this direction.

Furthermore, participants of Crimean Tatar organizations emphasized that the only way to end the violation of human rights in Crimea is to end the russian occupation.

We will never recognize russia’s illegal occupation of our homeland – Crimea – in 2014. The murders, abductions, and convictions of the so-called courts against our brothers by russia is a crime against humanity and will undoubtedly take its place on the darkest pages of history. Once again, we remind the world that in order to put an end to human rights violations and practices like the deportation of our leader and world-famous human rights activist Mustafa Jemilev and dozens of other people, the occupation of Crimea must be stopped.

As reported earlier, russia is desperately seeking recognition for its Crimea annexation.
