A flagship tender for concession agreements to run parts of Olvia and Kherson ports in southern Ukraine is attracting significant international interest, writes UkraineInvest Chairman Daniel Bilak.

In the month since a 1 October tender presentation attended by 46 companies from 11 countries, Ukraine has already received bids from companies based in Singapore, China and Qatar, with more applications anticipated ahead of the 6 December deadline.

The tender is the first in a planned series as Ukraine looks to use the country’s new concession law to engage international partners in an ambitious nationwide infrastructure upgrade. Preparations are underway for similar tenders focusing on ports in Odesa, Berdyansk and Mariupol. Ukraine also intends to launch concession tenders for a wide range of highways, railway stations, and airports across the country.
