As of December 22, it is officially known about 3,800 Ukrainians who were tortured by the russian invaders, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin said in a statement.

“Currently, more than 1,100 criminal proceedings are being investigated on the facts of torture. More than 80 people were notified about the suspicion, of whom 18 have already been convicted. We must act urgently and decisively to create an effective international mechanism for the release of illegally detained persons and the prosecution of those who committed these crimes,” Kostin said.

According to him, russia is illegally detaining thousands of Ukrainian civilians. “Today, on the eve of Christmas, a time of hope and unity, we call on the world to remember them and make every effort to free them and return them to their homeland. Every day in captivity is another day of torture and violence,” Kostin emphasized.
