Poroshenko on peace talks with russia: There can be no compromises regarding sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democracy in Ukraine
There can be no compromises regarding sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democracy in Ukraine – the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during his speech at the Berlin conference in which leading politicians from the key parties of Germany, the United States, Great Britain and other countries of the world participated.
“I can say that the victory of Ukraine is five “no’s”. Because any compromise on any of these five points will not bring victory. First: no compromises on our independence, no compromises on our sovereignty. Because it would be putin’s victory,” Poroshenko emphasized.“Secondly, no compromise regarding the territorial integrity of Ukraine. No compromise in anyone’s attempts to exchange territory for peace. It definitely doesn’t work. This clearly destroys all international law, the entire post-war security system. And this is unacceptable,” the fifth President is convinced.
“Thirdly, no compromises regarding the Ukrainian army in exchange for security. Because Ukraine has the most capable and well-prepared Armed Forces on the continent. And every Ukrainian soldier on the front line is absolutely sure that he is fighting for the security of Europe, and not only for Ukrainian territory and security,” Poroshenko said.
“Fourth, no compromises regarding sanctions and responsibility of the aggressor. And once again: no compromises regarding Ukraine’s membership in NATO,” said Petro Poroshenko.
“I can also voice other things that can’t be compromised. Please, no compromises regarding democracy in Ukraine. No “controlled democracy” in the style of putin. No autocracy in Ukraine. No lack of rule of law. No lack of press freedom. No lack of people’s freedom. No lack of parliamentary pluralism. So, once again: no compromises regarding democracy in Ukraine,” summed up the Eurosolidarity leader.
