Nearly 900 war crimes were recorded in Bucha and more than 11,000 in the district during the occupation. In the city, 358 bodies were found. The vast majority were civilians, including three children. This was stated by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko.
Law enforcement officers conducted over 4,000 procedural and investigative actions: from interviewing witnesses and victims, investigative experiments, and data analysis to exhumations of bodies and molecular genetic examinations.Specific military units of the russian Federation that operated in Bucha have already been identified, including the 234th Regiment of the 76th Division of the russian Armed Forces. For crimes committed in Bucha and the Bucha district, 215 persons have been served with notices of suspicion, indictments against 157 persons have been sent to court, and convictions have been handed down against 29 persons.
In total, over 218,000 war crimes have already been documented in Ukraine since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion. 1,154 persons have been served with notices of suspicion, cases against 818 persons have been sent to court, and courts have handed down convictions against 246 persons.
“We are moving up the chain of command – from the perpetrator to the organizer. Whether it takes dozens or hundreds of investigative actions, we will not stop. There is a team working on this 24/7,” Kravchenko wrote.
