Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller confirmed that russia had blackmail leverage over Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, nymag.com reports.

Naturally, to establish that russia had leverage over Trump is not the same as to say it had control over him. But russia’s leverage clearly does constrain his independence. So what if Trump will decide to break too deeply with Vladimir putin? putin can use the means to embarrass him, at least.

That blackmail leverage is a constraint normal presidential candidates and presidents of the United States do not have.
