There is no other security guarantee in the world than Ukraine’s membership in NATO, the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said in a statement.

“My message during numerous bilateral meetings was as follows: If you have constantly claimed that NATO’s doors are open for Ukraine, then let us in,” Poroshenko said.

“I knew that there are no other forms of security guarantees. And you don’t need to waste time on it – it’s a misleading way. This is a repetition of the Budapest memorandum,” he added.

“We have to tell those who are insisting now that peace negotiations be held: I am completely in favor of peace negotiations, and the only possible format – is negotiations on Ukraine’s membership in NATO,” Poroshenko emphasized.
