An article in “The Lancet” attests that the Sputnik V vaccine is 91.6 percent effective. But the professional world remains skeptical, writes spiegel.de.

In September 2020 around 40 experts led by the well-known molecular biologist Enrico Bucci, criticized the russian data. At the time, he mainly pointed out the noticeable duplication in the diagrams of the publication.

Half a year later, the doubts remained: “The decision of the russian government to make the vaccine available before Phase III is still unacceptable,” Enrico Bucci, who teaches at the University of Philadelphia, told spiegel.de.

The researchers point out several issues that are “cause for concern” and remain unresolved despite the new publication.

  • Serious lack of transparency;
  • Lack of details;
  • Inconsistencies in the number of test subjects;
  • Questions to the effectiveness;
  • Discrepancies;

According to Enrico Bucci, a statement about the effectiveness cannot be seriously considered after such contradictions.
