Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons at America’s request. Now they want us to pay for the Nobel Prize for the US President with our sovereignty – Ariev

Everything that is happening now is just the realization of Trump’s dream to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. The cessation of the russian war against Ukraine, according to the US president, should become the last argument for the Nobel Committee. After the solemn signing of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia or the story of the conflict between India and Pakistan, the compatibility of Trump and the Nobel no longer looks like nonsense, Ukrainian MP Volodymyr Ariev writes.

But this prize will be at our expense if the “exchange of territories” is a condition only for a ceasefire, which russia always violates. This is not the end of the war and is very unlikely to be a long pause. Fascist russia does not lose anything and the ceasefire will only be a preparation for a new war against us and against Europe. That is why the European Union is not part of the negotiations. We too – we are just being presented with a fact. And the term “exchange of territories” is generally the height of cynicism, because all territories belong to Ukraine.

At America’s request, we gave up nuclear weapons and reduced conventional weapons. Now they want us to pay for the Nobel Prize for the US President with our sovereignty. This is worth remembering. Especially in all future talks with Washington – we shouldn’t ask, we should issue an invoice.

Only a strong state with strong institutions can make the US settle its debts. With professional, not purely loyal managers, without embezzlement and corruption of 5-6 managers and further down the authoritarian vertical. Ukraine, together with the European Union, must become a high-tech fortress that will force the russian abomination to think carefully about whether to attack again. We will not defeat the enemy with numbers, we must become among the first in the world in the defense industry and technologies.

If in recent years Ukraine had spent money not on roads, but on armaments, now there would be a different conversation with both Washington and moscow. But at a critical moment, Ukrainians chose to joke with Independence, rather than strengthen it. And this is worth remembering also, to not repeat an electoral suicide.

Si vis pacem para bellum. If you want peace, prepare for war. Only in this way will we be able to survive. And in time, get back what is ours.
