Even the very fact of the meeting between Trump and putin, if it takes place, will be a great success for putin. Because it will break the international isolation that has been established over the years, the fifth President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said in a statement.

“The deadline for the ultimatum that Trump gave putin is approaching. When time runs out, we and our allies must act effectively. Ukraine is paying the highest price for every day of a delay in the ceasefire,” Poroshenko said.

“The US president promised that if putin does not accept the conditions that the allies have offered him, there must be a “plan B.” There should be more weapons, more money for Ukraine, and increased sanctions against russia. And no less important: support for Ukraine’s transatlantic integration. This is a clear demonstration of the message that russia cannot blackmail the entire free world,” he added.

“Ukrainians are a nation that does not trade its territories. Therefore, we cannot set a precedent when peace is achieved through concessions from Ukraine.”

According to Poroshenko, putin does not need just a part of Ukraine’s territory. “His goal is to achieve geostrategic success by placing a pro-kremlin government in Kyiv.”
