The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the statements of the staff of the Secretary General of NATO that Ukraine may have to make territorial concessions in order to join the Alliance, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko said in a statement.

“Talks about Ukraine joining NATO in exchange for relinquishing part of Ukrainian territories are absolutely unacceptable. It has always been assumed that the Alliance, like Ukraine, does not trade territories.

The conscious or unconscious participation of NATO officials in shaping the narrative about the possibility of Ukraine relinquishing its territory plays into the hands of russia. Instead, it is in the interests of Euro-Atlantic security to discuss ways to speed up Ukraine’s victory and its acquisition of full membership in NATO,” the post reads.

It is noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is determined to continue fruitful cooperation with the NATO Secretariat in order to achieve these goals.
