Buttons are pushed by people, rockets are made by people, they break through, they throw themselves into “meat assaults”, killing Ukrainians. No democratic russia exists today. Yes, maybe someday it will appear, but in any case, it will have to take a period of purification – just like the Germans went through in 1945, Garry Kasparov, a russian chess grandmaster and political activist, writes.
The Germans later learned about the existence of Auschwitz, and many were shocked. Because all these liberal ragtags living off grants have been saying for years that russia is on the path of evolution. Of course, there can be no attack on Ukraine – it’s only “crazy” people like Kasparov who have such fantasies.
What we have observed in the European Parliament is the inability to answer clearly: Who does Crimea belong to? And discussing plans for broadcasting russian TV channels in the occupied territories of Ukraine – is intellectual collaborationism. This is a disgrace.
The place of any russian patriot today is with Ukrainians. To fight putin’s fascism, which unfortunately has conquered all of russia. The time for the conversation about civil society has already passed. Now, those who really care about the future of russia must clearly say: this war is criminal, the regime is illegitimate, Crimea is Ukrainian. An inability to say this should disqualify a person from among those who attribute themselves to the real russian anti-fascist opposition.
