russians have informed the Ukrainian side that they will not return a 14-year-old girl who was taken to the russian Federation until the court proceedings against her take place, Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, was cited as saying by ukrinform.net.

“We showed [at a meeting of the UN Security Council – UT] a photo of this girl. She is 14 years old, and she was taken by the russians quite deliberately, and they are deliberately keeping her, in fact, in captivity. Because when we started dealing with the issue of her return home, russia allegedly opened criminal proceedings against her there. Doctors began examining her without any permission from her parents, other Ukrainian children are not allowed to see her, etc.,” he said.

According to Lubinets, the russians are actually holding the girl hostage. “And now they have officially replied that while the trial is taking place, they will never return this child to the territory of Ukraine,” the ombudsman noted.

“Just think about the cynicism: a mother is in Ukraine, she is looking for her child, and the russians, knowing this, invent some kind of court case – only in order not to return a Ukrainian girl,” he said.

The Commissioner for Human Rights expressed the opinion that it is necessary to raise this issue at various international platforms again and again.
