During the 5 months of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the russian aggressor attacked civilian objects 60 times more often than military ones, the Center for Combating Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine informed.

“This is 17.3 thousand strikes on civilian objects and about 300 – on military ones. Foremost, the occupiers strike at the civilian infrastructure of cities located along the front line,” according to the report.

As noted, the kremlin expects that the shelling will encourage local residents to stop resisting and speak out against the “Kyiv regime”.

The Central Security Service said that the “scorched earth” tactic replaced the russian army’s failed attempt at mobile penetration groups deep into the country.

To date, more than 50% of the entire housing stock of Mariupol, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Buchi, Severodonetsk and Lysychansk has been damaged or destroyed. The number of Ukrainians left homeless already exceeds 3.5 million people, or 8% of the country’s population.

Medical, educational institutions, and cultural objects became the target of russian attacks. Across the country, more than 830 healthcare facilities, 2,129 educational institutions, and more than 530 objects of culture and art were damaged.

Also, the reason is the low accuracy of russian weapons and the use of outdated or incorrect data. According to the Central Intelligence Agency, more than 70% of russian missiles do not hit their intended targets.

“However, regardless of the reasons, the “scorched earth” tactic throughout the world remains a war crime and terrorism, for which the kremlin leadership will have to answer,” the Center for Countering Disinformation emphasized.
