russian Arkady Dvorkovich retained the post of president of the International Chess Federation [FIDE], defeating Ukrainian grandmaster Andrii Baryshpolets in the elections.

“Arkady Dvorkovich is reelected for a second term as President of the International Chess Federation, with 157 votes,” – the International Chess Federation said in a post on Twitter. The Ukrainian chess grandmaster Andrii Baryshpolets received just 16 votes.

Dvorkovich was previously an assistant to putin and medvedev, the vice-prime minister of the russian federation and was in the management of a number of russian state-owned companies. He will remain in post for another four years.
