Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said that securing the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is not a first priority at this time. She made the remarks on the sidelines of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
“The main focus for Europe is and will remain the defense of Ukraine, which requires significant effort from all of us,” the diplomat emphasized.Valtonen also pointed out that Finland shares a 1,340-kilometer land border with russia, which, she noted, continues to pose the primary threat to the alliance, and stressed the importance of securing the navigation in the Baltic Sea for Finland.
This is where most of our capabilities are employed now and will be in the future, she added.
