antisemitism of russian elites

russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov could not hide the antisemitism of the russian elites and his words show that today’s russia is full of hatred towards other nations, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.

“FM Lavrov could not help hiding the deeply-rooted antisemitism of the russian elites. His heinous remarks are offensive to President Zelensky, Ukraine, Israel, and the Jewish people. More broadly, they demonstrate that today’s russia is full of hatred towards other nations,” Kuleba wrote.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has expressed its solidarity with the Jewish people and called on the governments of all countries to give a decisive response to russia: further isolate it, impose an embargo on russian oil and gas that will deprive the russian military machine of financial resources, increase military, financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, whose people are now heroically resisting russian evil.

Earlier, in an interview with Italy’s Mediaset broadcaster, Lavrov said that said that the fact that Ukraine’s president Zelensky is Jewish does not contradict moscow’s claims that it launched the invasion to “denazify” the country, claiming that even Hitler “had Jewish blood,” and the most ardent anti-Semites were usually Jews.
