During the liberation of Andriivka in the Donetsk region the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely destroyed the 72nd Brigade of the Armed Forces of the russian Federation, Dmytro Kuharchuk, commander of the 2nd assault battalion of the 3rd separate assault brigade said in a statement.

“The battle in the settlement itself lasted two days, but before that there was fighting for positions in tree patches. Many such positions, which were completely destroyed, in fact, the same happened to the settlement itself, which the enemy in agony was hitting with everything it had. Every meter of the reconquered Ukrainian land is given by extraordinary efforts, first of all, of our assault brigades, which are moving forward, regardless of the enemy’s continuous artillery fire, air and drone strikes,” Kuharchuk noted.

He emphasized that the main goal of wars is not the territories, “which is definitely heart-warming, watching the change in the situation on the deep state,” but the destruction of the enemy’s personnel.

“And in this context, we just mercilessly destroyed the 72nd brigade of the Armed Forces of the russian Federation. During the maneuver and encirclement of the enemy, three battalion commanders, the intelligence chief of the brigade, a bunch of company commanders, officers and soldiers were eliminated, and a huge number of enemy vehicles were destroyed,” Kuharchuk said.

He added that during the direct fighting in the settlement itself, the second assault battalion lost four fighters, whose names will forever be engraved in the textbooks of Ukrainian history.
