“It seems that the russians thought that they would repeat the scenario of capturing the airfield during the Pristina attack in Kosovo on June 12, 1999. They thought that in Hostomel they would repeat the scenario of capturing the airfield in Kazakhstan in early January 2022. They were so self-confident, not realizing that they were dealing with Ukrainians,” the Hero of Ukraine noted.

However, the intelligence officer says, as a result of the fierce fighting, the runways at the airport have become unsuitable for receiving russian transport planes with troops and equipment. In addition, the enemy suffered significant losses.

“In the battles for the Antonov [Hostomel] airfield, the aggressor country lost about 200 elite combat specialists, who had participated in military exercises of this type for decades,” he noted.
