A group of Italian and Ukrainian journalists wants to retrace what happened to the two journalists – Andrea Rocchelli and Andrej Mironov -who were killed in Donbas on May 24, 2014, through the accounts of journalists and testimonies on the ground.

They believe that the Ukrainian soldier Vitaly Markiv, who was convicted of their murders and sentenced to 24 years in prison, became a scapegoat.

“It may seem like the case is solved but it isn’t. Some loose ends remain. The case has become politicized,” journalists say. “In war, reporters, especially freelancers, too often put their lives at risk to make and sell their stories. Sometimes, they’re in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up paying with their lives.”

But to realize this project as independent journalists they aim to fund it through the crowdfunding campaign.
