The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine [HUR MO] has published an interactive 3D model, main components, and details of the new russian unmanned aerial vehicle [UAV] Klyn.
A drone developed and manufactured by Roboavia LLC has a “delta wing” type fuselage, 1.6 meters long, with a wingspan of 1.9 meters. It is powered by a Scorpion F-4225-500KV V2 (China) brushless electric motor, which is fed by two modern, lightweight 6S Li-AFB type batteries.
An important distinguishing feature of the “Klyn” is the use of machine vision technology with the ability to automatically acquire a target, implemented on the basis of an Nvidia Jetson TX2 (USA) computer module. Similar solutions have already been identified earlier in other russian drones – the V2U, Lancet, Zala, as well as the russian-Iranian Geran-2 MS series.
The flight controller is a readily available commercial solution, the Cube Orange (Australia). The navigation system is implemented using the Holybro F9P module (China), which has an RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) mode to enhance precision. Communication is provided by a LoRa radio modem, the main element of which is the Ra-01H radio module manufactured by Ai-Thinker (China).
Other UAV circuit boards contain components from American, Swiss, Taiwanese, and South Korean manufacturers.
The “Klyn” can carry a high-explosive or shaped-charge warhead weighing up to 5 kg.
Another characteristic feature of this UAV is the presence of a developed front canard (foreplane), which allows adjusting the approach course to the target at different angles of attack and different speeds.
The enemy states a maximum speed of 300 km/h during the final approach to the target.
The enemy also declares the existence of naval and land-based modifications. In the naval version, the remote detonation system is implemented using a radar, and in the land version, using a lidar.
The Ministry of Defense continues its systematic work on researching and highlighting the enemy’s new developments.
