American journalist killed

An American filmmaker and journalist Brent Renaud was shot dead, and his colleague wounded after russian troops opened fire in Irpin.

According to the Kyiv police chief Andriy Nebytov, the journalists were killed for detailing russia’s war crimes in Ukraine. The police are currently trying to evacuate another wounded and unidentified journalist from the combat area.

Kyiv police chief called the attack targeting a foreign reporter an ‘insidious’ and ‘brutal’ act.

Early reports said that Renaud was working for The Times because he was found with a Times press badge that had been issued for an assignment years ago. Although The Times reported that Renaud had contributed to The Times in previous years, but he was not on assignment for the company in Ukraine.

According to The Times, Renaud was a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University from 2018 to 2019.

Earlier a journalist from the Ukrainian Navkolo Tebe weekly publication has been killed by russian aggressors.
