A group of US lawmakers introduced a resolution characterizing russia’s aggression in Ukraine as genocide on Friday, foreignpolicy.com reported.

Atrocities committed by russian troops, including attacks on civilians, targeting medical facilities and maternity hospitals, and abduction of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians to russia meet the criteria laid out in Article II of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, according to a draft of the resolution, seen by Foreign Policy.

It is noted that rape, torture, and killings of civilians in Ukraine are committed for a specific purpose, which is evidenced by the fact that putin awarded his servicemen accused of committing war crimes in Bucha.
