The number of foreigners visiting Ukraine hit 27.3 mln

The number of foreigners visiting Ukraine reached 27.3 million in 2019, according to a recent report by Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service.

This figure is more than double the 13 million visitors in 2014. The majority of the visitors [21.5 million people] came to Ukraine via the land border and 5.5 million came to Ukraine by airplane. There was a substantial increase in visitors coming from European countries in 2019 compared to the previous year: Germany [14%], Liechtenstein [12%], Great Britain (11 %), Lithuania [24%], Latvia and Sweden [13%], Austria [27%], and Luxembourg [20%]. Visitors from russia dropped by 7%.

Ukraine’s association agreement with the European Union has been a major catalyst in the EU-Ukraine economic and cultural relations. Ukraine’s hospitality market is also becoming a growing industry, catching the eye of new investors.
