russians raped at least 400 children and adults in the temporarily occupied territories, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova said.
According to her, calls to the hotline for psychological help began to arrive when in late March, the Ukrainian military began to liberate the cities of Kyiv region and residents were able to safely get out of the basements. People confessed to being victims of sexual violence by the occupiers.
Lyudmila Denisova noted that from April 1 to 14, the Ombudsman’s Office received about 400 complaints of rape, and they continue to be received.
“Our five psychologists can’t handle this. So I asked UNICEF to almost double the number of psychologists, to ensure that the care is of good quality and that there is no burnout, including those psychologists who receive such appeals day and night. And these cases are very terrible,” the ombudsman stressed.
The Commissioner noted that sexual violence may affect a woman’s desire or ability to give birth, and this shows signs of genocide.
“There are also signs of genocide when children are taken away … so that Ukraine does not have a future. No children – no future, no Ukrainians. This is the genocide of the Ukrainian people,” Denisova stressed.
