russians mined Zaporizhzhia NPP power units before UA Army counteroffensive – intelligence
The russian army mined the power units of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Ukraine’s intelligence confirmed.
“The russians brought weapons and explosives to Zaporizhzhya NPP, they mined a number of communications. Among them are gas supply, electricity supply and water supply,” Andriy Yusov, a representative of the press service of the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said. He believes that this is being done before the “inevitable counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.According to Energoatom [National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine], as of the morning of August 6, the russian occupiers once again fired rockets at the site of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and the town of Enerhodar. They hit the ZNPP site directly next to the on-site Dry Spent Fuel Storage Facility (DSFSF). There are still risks of hydrogen leakage and sputtering of radioactive substances, and the fire hazard is also high. “This time a nuclear catastrophe was miraculously avoided, but miracles cannot last forever. The actions of russian nuclear terrorists must be urgently put to an end in order to protect Ukraine and the world from a nuclear disaster,” the message reads.
