The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed an Iran-developed Shahed-136 drone equipped with a Starlink satellite communication system on 25 September, defence-ua.com reported.
The russian Federation may be seeking to utilize Starlink technology to transform Shahed drones into long-range loitering munitions, capable of reaching distances of up to 2000 kilometers. This adaptation would also allow for reconnaissance missions, the alteration of flight objectives at any range, and the ability to engage moving targets.
Although SpaceX does not officially provide service or sell Starlink kits in the russian Federation, russians continue to purchase the equipment through third countries.
