Only 45% of working-age population in Ukraine officially employed

Minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture Tymofiy Mylovanov has stated that only 12.8 million of working-age people in Ukraine are officially employed.

“Only 12.8 million of 28.5 million of working-age people work officially, they have protection guarantees of their labor rights,” said Mylovanov at a briefing on December 27, Ukrinform reports.

He added that 15.7 million people are currently unprotected in Ukraine, namely illegal workers that work without employment contracts, migrant workers that left Ukraine, able-bodied retired persons, unemployed people, people with disabilities and people in the household sector.
