Lviv International Airport remains on track to hold onto its status as Ukraine’s busiest regional air hub with 41.2% year-on-year growth in passenger numbers during the January-July 2019 period to reach a new total of 1.2 million travelers, bunews.com.ua reports.

Monthly growth in July was significantly below this seven-month result but remained strong, with an increase of 26% as the airport serviced 243,000 passengers.

Lviv has recently reactivated the city’s Soviet-era terminal building to help cope with seasonal highs in passenger flows during the summer peak period.

The old terminal building was mothballed almost a decade ago following the unveiling of the current terminal facilities, which were constructed as part of Lviv’s infrastructure upgrade ahead of its role as one of four Ukrainian host cities for the UEFA Euro 2012 European football championship.
