Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi confirmed that Kyiv recently received a request from Beijing asking it not to launch strikes against the part of russian territory where a high-level Chinese delegation was present.
“As for China and the request not to strike Vladivostok. Well, to be honest, we don’t usually comment on such matters publicly, but since you’ve already asked, I can confirm that the Chinese side did indeed officially approach the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a request not to carry out strikes on that part of the russian Federation’s territory where a high-level Chinese delegation will be staying. Such a request was made. The Ukrainian side has taken note of this request,” he said at a briefing in Kyiv.
Tykhyi also added that this is not the first time we have received such requests. “Similar requests have been made in the past when Chinese officials, including high-ranking ones, were on the territory of the russian Federation. Well, we believe that this, as Minister Sybiha says, is a recognition of Ukraine’s sovereignty—if you look at a map to see where Vladivostok is located.”
