On Saturday, July 27, during a significant Ukrainian cyberattack, ATM services at major russian banks were disrupted, preventing customers from withdrawing cash. According to a source within Ukrainian intelligence, the debit and credit cards of these customers were promptly blocked when they attempted to use the ATMs, kyivpost reported.
The cyberattack originating from Ukraine commenced on the morning of July 23rd. Up to this point, the hackers have:
- – Frozen bank payment systems and mobile applications.
- – Caused disruptions in personal offices.
- – Prevented payments for public transport.
- – Created disturbances in the services of russian mobile and internet providers such as Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2, and Rostelecom.
- – Targeted popular online messengers and the largest russian social networks. – Managed to breach major banks’ databases.
According to the source, the russian bank Dom.RF has been added to the list of compromised banks, which already includes VTB Bank, Alfa-Bank, Sberbank, Raiffeisen Bank, RSHB Bank, Rosbank, Gazprombank, Tinkoff Bank, and iBank.
