US President Donald Trump said he spoke with russian dictator vladimir putin about Ukraine’s latest attack on russian airplanes.
“It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.At the same time, US senators are becoming increasingly impatient to proceed with crushing sanctions targeting russia and President Trump remains the sole obstacle in their path, foxnews.com reported.
Amid the highly partisan budget reconciliation process, almost the entire Senate has united in support of the sanctions proposal put forth by Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal.
This proposal would impose tariffs of up to 500% on nations purchasing energy products from moscow. The objective of this measure is to severely restrict russia’s military capabilities by levying duties on oil, gas, uranium, and other exports, primarily acquired by China and India, which together represent nearly three-quarters of moscow’s energy market.
