More than 10,000 civilians have been killed in Mariupol since the start of the russian siege, Mayor Vadym Boychenko said in an interview with apnews.com.

According to Boychenko, the number of victims may increase to 20,000, as the bodies of Mariupol residents have covered the streets “like a carpet.”

About 120,000 civilians remaining in Mariupol, who are in dire need of food, water, heat, and communication, he said.
