It was established that 27,407 foreign citizens from 135 countries have been recruited by russia to fight against Ukraine, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported.
“Each week, Ukraine’s Defense Forces take between one and three citizens of third countries captive – individuals whom the kremlin regime essentially sends to their deaths. … Egypt, Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Algeria, Syria, Morocco, Jordan – this is far from a complete list of Arab world countries whose citizens are being recruited by the russian Federation to fight against Ukraine,” the statement said.
In 2025 alone, hundreds of people from Arabic-speaking countries in Africa and the Middle East ended up in the russian occupation forces.
The Headquarters noted that hundreds of foreigners are currently held in Ukrainian captivity, and their numbers continue to grow.
