Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said that his US counterpart, Donald Trump, is currently acting as a “Soviet asset” by favoring the russian Federation in the war against Ukraine, CNN reported.
“The supreme leader of the world’s greatest superpower is, objectively, a Soviet or russian asset. He functions as an asset,” de Sousa said. “I’m saying that, objectively, the new American leadership has strategically favored the russian Federation,” he added.
“In other words, they’ve gone from being allies on one side to being the referees,” he said, adding that this is a referee who only wants to negotiate with one of the teams, excluding both Ukraine and Europe, which had to “force themselves” into recent negotiations.
