Over 5,000 russian troops have been encircled by Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk region’s Lyman, Luhansk Regional Military Administration Head Serhii Haidai said in a statement.

“As of October 1, 2022, the russian military stationed in Lyman appealed to their command with a request to withdraw but got a refusal. Over 5,000 russian troops are now encircled,” Haidai wrote.

Nearly all the routes used to retreat or deliver ammunition have been blocked, he added.
