Hungary blocks EUR 500m tranche to arm Ukraine – media

Hungary blocked the disbursement of a EUR 500m tranche from the European Peace Facility (EPF) for Ukraine, ANSA reported, citing sources.

The tranche was supposed to be disbursed next Monday. Budapest has allegedly demanded “guarantees” that the EPF will maintain its “global” horizon in the future and not be used “solely to arm Kyiv.”

In January, Hungary blocked the 7th tranche of EU support of around EUR 500m for Ukraine from the European Peace Facility.
