Grateful to the Finnish Paralympic Committee and its President, Sari Rautio, for the principled decision not to attend the Opening Ceremony and other official events of the 2026 Paralympic Games, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a post on X.
“The admission of russian and Belarusian athletes under their national symbols is unacceptable, immoral, and shameful. We reiterate our call on all countries’ officials to refrain from attending the ceremony. Watching flags connected with hundreds of thousands of war crimes, aggressive war, and genocide at an event intended to promote peace violates basic human dignity and self-respect,” Sybiha said.Boycott the ceremony — defend dignity, he added.
