Area larger than Greece needs to be inspected for mines in Ukraine

Due to the russian aggression, an area of about 160,000 square kilometers in Ukraine needs to be inspected for mines.

“This area is much larger than Greece or two Croatias. Such a scale is a challenge!” Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar said in a statement.

According to her, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining elaborate joint mine action projects to restore safety in the liberated areas.

“Under the chairmanship of the defense minister, the National Mine Action Authority was established, which already works and coordinates all mine action negotiations between government agencies and international organizations,” Malyar added.
