This is a major miscalculation, because deals with dictators are the road to hell. Innocent people are being killed with money that comes from selling gas and fuel. And, very likely, the hoped-for fuel will never arrive, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said in a statement about Trump’s putin diesel deal.
“Such an agreement runs counter to the Western world’s long-standing efforts to restrict the flow of energy revenues to putin. Until now, the United States has persuaded its allies to give up russian fuel; we have done the same. The long-term policy of denying russia revenue is the right one and must continue,” Michal said.“In Estonia and at the European Council, we should discuss next week whether we can quickly increase our support for Ukraine so they can reduce russian oil refineries to rubble.”
