putin has no veto and has no vote on whoever would join NATO in the future, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said during the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos.
“In 2014 we thought that we had a sustainable peace but basically putin was able to continue his quest to get more of Ukraine and he did it in 2022,” Rutte said. For the peace to be sustainable we have to make sure that putin will never ever again try to get a square kilometer of Ukraine, he added.
According to Rutte, another key to this is ending what we see as this new axis of evil – russia with North Korea, Iran, and China. So we also have to put pressure on that, Rutte said.
