New graves continue to appear in the yards of residential houses and at makeshift cemeteries in Mariupol, advisor to the mayor Petro Andriushchenko wrote.

“There are no official data on the death rate and causes in Mariupol. The occupiers have neither the equipment nor the reagents to conduct relevant analyzes and tests. At the same time, we observe a growing number of burials in yards and residents’ preparation of new graves. New graves appear at makeshift cemeteries every day,” he said. Andriushchenko noted that the causes of people’s death are unknown but are non-violent.

The advisor hopes that the risk of an epidemic will remain just a risk. However, he pointed out that the russian occupiers did not take any preventive measures.

“The only thing is that the occupiers have acknowledged the problem of reburial of the dead, which are buried in the courtyards of apartment buildings. Most reburials take place in a mass grave in Manhush, so the official procedure takes 8 to 10 days to pass through the circles of bureaucratic hell of the so-called ‘DPR” and their mortuary,” Andriushchenko stressed. At the same time, he added that the causes of death are not being established.
