Imports of electric vehicles to Ukraine plummeted in January 2026 following the repeal of tax incentives, according to the Automotive Market Research Institute (AMRI), which analyzed data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Imports of used electric vehicles fell by 94.5% compared to December 2025, to 1,374 units. Compared to the same period last year, the decline was 53.7%, AMRI states.
A similar trend is observed in the new electric vehicle segment. In January 2026, 864 units were imported—85.2% less than in the previous month, but 35.6% more than in January 2025.
In total, approximately 2,300 electric vehicles were registered in Ukraine during the first month of 2026. This stands in stark contrast to December 2025, when a record 33,000 units were registered, AMRI reports.
