The security situation at the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remains difficult: as before, none of the six ZNPP power units is generating electricity — all of them are in a state of “cold shutdown.” The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine [HUR] reported.
At the same time, moscow, through its representatives in the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency], seeks to “russify” the organization and use the agency’s international status to justify the occupation of the ZNPP. One of the tasks of the corresponding hybrid campaign is to “normalize” the information background and create preconditions for the further legitimization of russian control over the Ukrainian nuclear power plant.
As part of these efforts, russia tried to organize and use for its own purposes a visit by the agency’s Director General, Rafael Grossi, to the occupied ZNPP before the 70th session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna on September 14–17, where the issue of Ukraine’s nuclear safety will be considered.
Representatives of the aggressor state, russia, in the IAEA continue to promote the kremlin’s interests and exert pressure on the international organization. Thus, IAEA Deputy Director General, russian citizen Mikhail Chudakov, secured the Agency’s support for the cartographic display of the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as part of russia in the updated IAEA global integrated information system PRIS. russian representatives in the organization also demand the use of Russified names of Ukrainian settlements in the said system: Chernobyl, Rovno, Khmelnitski, and Zaporozhye.
The station continues to remain a military base and a kind of shelter for the russian occupation garrison, since the Muscovites understand that Ukrainian forces will not strike the ZNPP.
