The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, has launched an informational resource to expose russia’s system of recruiting foreign citizens to fight against Ukraine.
The website stoprussianrecruiters.org publishes information about recruitment schemes, their scale, the geographic scope of russian recruiters’ activities, and the individuals working in the interests of the russian Federation in various countries around the world.
russia is increasingly involving citizens of other states in the war—labor migrants, the unemployed, and socially vulnerable people from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. To do this, they use deception, psychological pressure, and financial manipulation.
As part of the Coordination Headquarters’ project “I Want to Live,” the identities of over 28,000 foreigners who signed contracts with the russian Armed Forces have already been established. At least 5,149 of them have been killed. Currently, hundreds of foreigners from more than 48 countries are in Ukrainian captivity.
This resource will help:
- Warn potential victims of russia’s recruitment system
- Draw the attention of the international community
- Contribute to holding accountable those who send people to die in a war for the kremlin’s interests
