Czechia spent CZK 7.3bn on Ukrainian refugees and earned CZK 11.7bn from taxes in 1H24
During the first half of this year, Czechia spent CZK 7.3 billion (USD 322m) on Ukrainian refugees but earned around CZK 11.7 billion (USD 515m) in taxes from them. At the same time, expenses are falling, while earnings are growing, novinky.cz reported, citing the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
Refugees from Ukraine have long been giving our budget much more than we are spending on helping their compatriots. They are an asset for us, not a burden, the ministry said.
In the first quarter, according to the ministry, expenses amounted to CZK 3.8 billion and income to CZK 5.8 billion. In the second, costs fell to CZK 3.5 billion, while the income increased to CZK 5.9 billion.
In 1H24, the Czech hospitality towards Ukrainian refugees brought CZK 4.4 billion crowns into the state coffers.
