US negotiators have been trying to push Ukraine to surrender for almost two years, but Ukraine has not surrendered on putin’s terms because Europe has supported it, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said during a European Parliament plenary session.

“I presented to the foreign ministers a really maximalist plan on how to enter into these peace talks. Because if russia is presenting its maximum demands and requests, we should put our maximum demands on the table too, to balance these negotiations. And also to send a clear message to russia that, for all the things it is interested in—like lifting sanctions—Europe needs to be at the table,” Kallas said.

According to Kallas, sanctions are working: otherwise, russia would not want them lifted. “They have deprived russia of EUR 1 trillion, and this is not money that is going into russia’s war coffin.”
